Rainbow Jews training
We are ready to start our Rainbow Jews collection!
Throughout May 2013, the Rainbow Jews volunteer team received expert training on all aspects of archiving. The training was conducted by senior archivists from both Hall Carpenter Archives at the LSE and London Metropolitan Archives (LMA).
During the intro sessions, Senior Archivist Sue Donnelly (Hall Carpenter) amazed our team with a stunning collection of LGBT and Jewish memorabilia to be scanned, and the LMA team was not short of surprises either, presenting us with an original marriage document signed by Oscar Wilde.
The archiving ‘crash course’ at the LMA was well received by everyone, and we even managed to squeeze in a sunny picnic in the local park opposite the LMA building (if you’re at all a history buff: it was made famous in 1816 by the Spa Fields Riots).
Alison T., a professional archivist and Rainbow Jews volunteer, commented: ‘It was a very helpful and productive set of training sessions for me’.
