We would like to invite you to an historic event, marking the launch of Rainbow Jews; Britain’s first ever oral history archive of Jewish Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender history.
RAINBOW JEWS EXHIBITION & FILM: LAUNCH at LSE for LGBT HISTORY MONTH 2014
Launch event: Thursday 6 February 2014, 6.30-9pm Twitter #RJexhibition
6.30pm Opening ceremony and Film screening at the New Theatre (East Building).
8-9pm Reception at the LSE Atrium Gallery (Old Building).
Speakers include: The Mayor of Camden, Councillor Jonathan Simpson, Human Rights defender Peter Tatchell; Prof Catherine Harper, Dean, Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries, University of Portsmouth. Guest of Honour: Rabbi Lionel Blue.
Special Performance by Tav Rishon Choir and guests.
The exhibition will be open throughout February for LGBT History Month (Mon-Fri, 10am-8pm). Closing Friday 28th February at 3pm. Join us at the After-Party. see info below.
About the exhibition
Rainbow Jews is a unique oral history and archive project, exploring the intersection of Jewish and LGBT identities. Featuring a variety of events, we invite you to celebrate the launch of the Rainbow Jews travelling exhibition during LGBT History Month in February 2014.
Discover how the stories and experiences of LGBT Jewish people have shaped British culture from the 1950s to today. Explore the truly diverse range of Jewish voices: Ultra-Orthodox lesbians, bisexual rabbis, gay Holocaust survivors and transgender activists.
